Documenting the creative underground
What
Document the activities of Townsville’s creative underground and the people, places, and organisations that support the underground.
Why
To gain a better understanding for how to develop systems that are inclusive for creative and innovative practice.
Yes, if we want to solve more problems and create more opportunities for people and community, we need to understand how to activate and support inclusive grassroots creativity and innovation in regional cities.
I intend to document the experiences of the creative underground so that we can understand and celebrate the nature of creativity in our regional city’s underground. Over six months I will take photos as the underground develop and do projects, and ask questions to provide a deeper understanding of the creative underground who participate in initiatives. I’ll use my phone camera and a digital SLR. I need to ask for people’s permission and will share images and stories I capture with participants.
Purpose
I am activating the CRU and bringing the CRU alive through photographic stories.
