WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO PARTICIPATE
Participants are encouraged to:
- Seek and use ‘third places’ in Townsville where the creative underground can create, connect, learn, work on their projects, pursue dreams and ideas…
- Update the places database on the creative underground website so that we have a comprehensive knowledge of ‘third places’ in Townsville.
One method is to participate in activities in these places and observe details to add to the places database, such as (i) what spaces and resources are available, (ii) what workshops and events might occur at the place, (iii) how to access the place including time and costs, etc.
ELIGIBILITY
Any person curious about places the public can go to pursue dreams and ideas, access resources, learn new skills, meet people…

USEFUL INFORMATION
Every person has different dreams and ideas and each ‘third place’ across the city has different spaces, resources, culture, etc. Knowing the diverse ecosystem of places in Townsville helps the creative underground know where to go to pursue their vernacular forms of creativity.
If you choose to participate in this initiative, please:
- Explore details of places that have already been added to the place database,
- Select a place that needs more information,
- Have a look at the questions on the ‘add place’ form will help you record useful information for each place.
You may also discover places around the city not yet known that you can add to the database.
Please note, that this is an opt-in collaborative initiative, and you will not be endorsed if costs are involved when engaging/exploring a place.

One research task is to map the ‘third place creative ecosystem’ across the city of Townsville, and creative underground research participant, Lynn, suggested transforming the research task into a collaborative initiative for the creative underground. Therefore, we are going to give it a go as an initiative for Townsville’s creative underground.
