Neighbourhood siesta
I would like to develop a more connected neighbourhood. For example, during winter in North Queensland, families with young children and stay-at-home parents/guardians could congregate at their nearest public park for shared afternoon tea, play, and conversations.
Why this dream, idea, curiosity matters…
Because communities are becoming more socially isolated and society needs to find simple methods for bringing people together, especially to build trust in the local community.
Why people should care…
Parents/guardians raising the next generation need to consider the outcomes if families and kids forget how to interact, socialise, connect, share, help, respect, etc.
What’s needed to make this dream, idea, curiosity reality…
A simple model, person, or organisation to coordinate/facilitate winter siesta events in local neighbourhoods and people making the effort to participate and interact with their neighbours. This idea is lower in my list of ambitions during this time in my life, but I feel it is important to share.
